Today’s Dream: The Incomparable Paige Sealey

As some of you may have heard via social media, I am starting a new segment called “My Darlings!” It is all about women whom I have met who are inspirations, fellow dreamers, and just as darling on the inside as they are on the outside! The world needs to know about these incredible women who make an impact not only in fashion but also in the lives of people around them and I am here to present them to you!

The first of these ladies is one of my favorite performing cast members in Disneyland!

Meet Paige Sealey: the vivacious blonde bombshell who can be currently seen in Disney’s Aladdin: A Musical Spectacular (in California Adventure). She plays the magic carpet in the show and (in my humble opinion) is by far the most captivating dancer when she performs! I have never seen her have a rough performance and believe me, I have seen that show so many times I lost count….. Paige is truly the most inviting person off the stage and always warmly welcomes you to her Disney home. When my sister and I first met her, she gave my sister the most inspiring, heartfelt, and encouraging speech about dancing and auditioning that as I was standing there, I thought I could also become a professional dancer the next day! Seriously. But for now I’m going to stick to continually being transported to a world of 5, 6, 7, 8 from the comfort of a seat in the audience.

Moving on to why I chose her for this project: Paige is very passionate about anything she believes in and doesn’t let the world get the best of her! She is a Jesus lover, a positively joyful girl, and is so gorgeous it’s easy to be jealous of her! She can absolutely ROCK that chic 90’s style that I wish I could pull off but she has the body and spunk that is required!

So now that I’ve introduced her, I asked her to answer a few questions about herself that will inspire and help you get to know her some more!

1. What is your dream job and why?

Well, I started dancing at a very young age and my mother took me to see the Nutcracker every year for Christmas.. It was my dream to play Clara one day and that dream came true when I was only 13! Another childhood dream of mine was to perform for Disney in their parades and shows.. specifically the Magic Carpet role in "Aladdin: A Musical Spectacular". I remember watching the show when I was younger and thinking I could do that someday.. I still can't believe I am living that dream! I feel as though I have been fortunate enough to accomplish most of my goals as an artist so I continue to push myself and create new ones. I'm starting to audition for some Broadway National Tours because I would love to combine my love of musicals and traveling. After working in the industry I have decided that my ultimate dream job would be to work for the Walt Disney Company on the creative side of things.. After I'm finished performing I would be happy to help inspire others and get shows ready to create magical memories for audiences.

2. What would you say is the biggest challenge, for you, trying to achieve your dream?

No matter how hard you train or how badly you want the job, some things are just out of your control and decisions are not always based on talent alone. I am a very petite dancer and have been but cut from many auditions and had my dream of becoming a prima ballerina taken away simply because of my body type. I also am terrified to sing in front of people so that often holds me back!

3. How do you try to overcome that challenge?

Over time I have learned to accept my body but that doesn't stop my from going to auditions even if I'm a good 5 inches below the height restriction! I'm here to prove that I am just as capable of a dancer and maybe my determination will shine through. Every time I have faced rejection in my life I have been guided down a different path and I am so grateful.. I am much happier where I am now and I truly believe everything happens for a reason! I am also trying to build confidence by singing often and going to those kinds of auditions so I can be fearless in front of an audience.

4. Who/what are you inspired by and why?

I'm obsessed with Misty Copeland. She's a professional ballet dancer who overcame many obstacles but is now a huge success! I love everything she represents as an artist and role model.

5. If you could pick any celebrity's closet to raid who would it be?

Ooh, that's a tough one.. I'm gonna go with Kylie Jenner. I love her edgy, rock 'n' roll vibe and since I look so innocent and typical naturally I'm a big fan of the contrast!

6. What is your favorite thing to wear when you're not in costume?

SWEATPANTS. Haha, the first thing I do when I get home is hair up, bra off, glasses on, and get into some sweats. On a day off though I'm most comfortable in my ripped jeans, converse, and a flannel.

7. Chocolate or Vanilla?

Chocolate, all the way.

8. Introvert or extrovert?

When you first meet me I can be a little more reserved but once I open up I am definitely an extrovert. I do appreciate my alone time but also enjoy crazy adventures with friends.

9. What's the funniest thing that has happened to you this week?

A really bad auto-correct fail. I'm never gonna live it down.

10. How old are you?

I'm almost 24 :)

11. What's your all time favorite movie?

The Breakfast Club.

12. Describe your style in 3 words.

Edgy, 90's, trendy.

13. What was your most embarrassing fashion trend that you stood by 100%?

Camouflage. I remember my first day of high school I was dressed entirely head to toe in Camo.. Shoes, belt, shirt, backpack. Not gonna lie, I still love the army look though! Some of my favorite pieces I own are camo!

14. When do you feel the most joy?

On stage, doing what I love and witnessing the joy I'm bringing to others because I was once in their seat.

15. What piece of advice would you give to someone who is just starting a similar journey to yours?

Be patient, trust your journey, and never give up!

So there you have it darlings! The wonderful Paige Sealey, you can follow her Instagram: @psealey here, like her Facebook here (for regular updates on which shows she will be performing in), and check out her website here for all upcoming events!

Want what she is wearing? I know I do!

She got her romper at a second hand store on Ventura Blvd called Wasteland (of course because when you look that great, no one else is allowed to have what you bought) BUT here are some similar options for you to shop!

I found a hat here and a jacket here that are almost identical styles for your closet pleasure. Her Minni Mouse baseball cap can be found at any Disney park but can also be found online on Amazon if you can’t wait that long for your next trip to Disney.

xoxo,

The Darling Dreamer
