Today’s Dream: Bright Colors Make Me Happy
I recently purchased this bright yellow brocade pencil skirt and I couldn’t love it more if I tried. Why? I’m so glad you asked! I absolutely adore bright colors and skirts happen to flatter my body type the best. This skirt covers all grounds! I typically don’t wear a lot of pencil skirts for fear of my tummy (I hide it very well thanks to the peplum top I paired with it) because I am self conscious about it. I know I’m not alone in that because ALMOST every woman I’ve ever dressed expresses her concern towards her stomach no matter how old she is. So if you are like me and suffer from this silly (but real to you) insecurity, here are a few tips I use when I want to wear something tight and super cute!
1. SPANX. Need I say more? But I’ll continue…
2. Darker colors will hide ANY insecurity better, I’m not saying every tight piece of clothing you buy should be funeral worthy, but I am saying that dark colors are slimming and flattering!
3. Wear a top or accessory to make everyone who sees you look up instead of, in your projected opinion, down.
4. Peplum tops should be considered a go-to. Although they certainly aren’t for everyone, they do cinch in your waist and hide the tummy (like the top I am wearing)
5. When in doubt, belt it. A belt is an excellent way to draw attractive attention to your waist with out emphasizing your tummy.
6. Get a second and third opinion. Don’t be afraid to ask the sales girl her opinion or even send a picture to your best friend before purchasing it. I always ask when I can’t tell if the mirror is making me look skinny or if the real perception is that the piece isn’t very flattering. It will help you make the right choice!
So there you have it. Now, if you aren’t part of the hide your bodily insecurities support group then that is so awesome! We are all jealous of your confidence and make sure you share with people how you keep up that positive mind set!
I hope you all are having a blessed week, you can shop my look below!
